Boing

Boing is a pull back car made from 3D printed and laser cut components. The aim of this project was to explore the different materials available in additive manufacturing processes and exploit their capabilities to create a functional product.

This car used Nylon for a leaf spring, due to flexibility. Its wheels were printed in Tough PLA for the wheels to support a possible high torque and used elastic resin to make treads and prevent slippage. The wheels also had heat set inserts and set screws to keep the shaft in place. The laser cut body has wooden snap fits to keep the different parts in place.

Processes: 3D Printing

Materials: PLA, Nylon, Formlabs Elastic Resin, steel shafts, Birch plywood, heat set inserts
